The 7 Deadly Sins Of Religion In Science Fiction
The 7 Deadly Sins Of Religion In Science Fiction
Religion is a huge part of science fiction - and it makes the genre better and more fascinating, as Battlestar Galactica proved. But there are seven mistakes SF should avoid in portraying the spiritual realm. picked by Bornbad 12 months ago

As for #1... Is the writer aware that cargo cults are real? So are things closely resembling "aliens worshipping humans" and "robots worshipping creators". When the Conquistadores arrived, they resembled some Mesoamerican gods, so they were worshipped. Then they started with the pillaging and the devastating plagues.

Also, I've heard anecdotes about chatbots and emergent-behaviour AIs reacting with various emotions when told that they were programmed - such as incredulity, worship, and anger at their creators.

Get off the hard drugs! Just kidding. Good insight to a fantasy world.

I love the way the writers of BSG had to face things that they added in because "they thought it would be cool" For example the red, glowing spines and at one point you see humanoid models lifting great weights. Their excuse: it looked good.
