Paranormal Acitivity - Biggest Letdown Ever?

Just saw this in a packed theatre tonight...people were literally booing and leaving before the movie was over.
I already had a feeling it was going to be caca based on all the ridiculous amount of hype and buzz that were swirling around.
Thoughts? Was anyone else as disappointed as I was? What other movies really left you with a bad taste in your mouth? Could there possibly be another movie that was supposed to be mind-blowing, but ended up mind-numbing?

It's funny, I'm usually very critical about movies, but I kind of liked The Happening! Something about the character interaction...? And it made me think about the environment and...stuff? No? heh heh, you're right, maybe it was too boring.

Transformers 2. Both of them sucked, but 2 just took the cake. I was honestly biting my tongue not to burst out LAUGHING at how ridiculously stupid it was.

The thing about the movie was that they were running away from the wind! Seriously, I lost all respect for M. Night Shamalamalame-o with this one. I hadn't seen one of his movies since Signs, so I don't know how Lady In The Water was. Most of the audience was laughing at how dumb the story and the dialogue was. The only good parts were already shown in the trailer (man getting run over by a lawnmower) so really what was the point of watching it? I still want my $10 back. :P

Watch Scary Movie 3 and then try and watch Signs with a straight face.

This is a great example.

Yeah, that movie blew. HEEE HAAAA ( as bad as that joke was it was 10X better than the movie.

Blair Witch - DUMB! I wanted to kick their heads into the damn river.

Deep Impact. - Just bad.

Terminator 2 - Totally unbelievable!! They can't send back metal weapons but the bad guy is liquid METAL!!!! They destroy their own stupid premise immediately. Only big fat joints could save this one.

Ah no, if you wrap it in a flesh tube it's OK.

And in SCC big brainy super computer Skynet finally realises that if you can put a Terminator exoskeleton inside flesh you can give them a gun inside their thigh, for example.

Star Trek (the 2009 version).

(I used the spoiler tag because if you haven't seen the movie, reading what's under the black bar will ruin the entire movie for you...don't say you haven't been warned.)

The biggest cop-out in movies (or books) is the "Oh, let's go back in time and completely change everything so we can start over and make the universe work the way we want it to now") I hated that movie.

If it is made of liquid metal there is no flesh. The baddy in T2 was ALL METAL no flesh.

But none of it happened, at least not in this quantum of timespaceline anyway.

Terminator salvation saw to all that by going down the wrong leg of the trousers of time.

I an similar way we could say that the new Star Trek sucked humungous balls.

I'd love to be at a scriptwriters meeting where one of them says

"But that can't happen because of what has already happened"

I always imagine some big Yorkshireman standing up and shouting "BUGGERIT! IT'S DOWN TO QUANTUM, LET'S US GET AWAY WITH ANY OLD s**t!"

Superman returns was also one of the biggest heaps of dung I have had the misfortune to witness, granted it was set against the premise that Superman 3 and 4 never happened but guess what? THEY DID HAPPEN! I SAW THEM!

Re-imaginings can work, look at BSG, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. So why do so many others have to be so sucky.

One thing I really would not like to be added to this list is the remake of V.

Edit Damn I just typed all that out and found it was pretty much what IP said up there^

I hadn't heard of Paranormal Activity when I went to see it, so I guess that helped it along. It wasn't my favorite movie ever, but I didn't hate it.

Blair Witch was the suck.

Read some Terry Pratchett - he is the originator of the concept of the bifurcation of the trousers of time.
