Physicists Prove That Vampires Could Not Exist
Physicists Prove That Vampires Could Not Exist
"Two physicists have published an academic paper where they demonstrate that vampires could not exist, "since they would almost immediately deplete their entire food supply."

In fact, all of these models rest upon the assumption that vampires are at the top of the undead food chain. Who says that the blood-sucking population is not kept in check by something that preys on vampires?

...then you know that after a vampire decides to settle in your town, the undead begin to multiply at an alarming rate (he bites two friends, who bite two friends, and so on, and so on…).

It also isn't taking in account the amount needed to feed a vampire. Perhaps they don't need to drain a victim. In fact it would be highly unlikely that such amounts would be needed.

Perhaps they can farm their food supply as vampires in so many movies do.

There is also the assumption that only human blood works. Perhaps human blood just tastes the best, perhaps human blood has the most "ommph", the most bang for the buck, perhaps there is just a stigma against feeding for lower animals. Doesn't mean they couldn't supplement their food supply.

Also you have to take into account the numbers of vampires. Most stories have them at relatively few numbers. Fewer vamps = less amount of food needed.

You people are nothing but sheep...or more accurately lambs for the blood drinker's slaughter.

Can't you SEE?!?!? It's right there in FRONT OF YOU!!! The authors of the paper PROVE that vampires cannot possibly exist because THEY ARE THE F*CKING VAMPIRES!!!

We are getting too close for comfort...they are trying to throw us off the path. But that won't stop ME. I f*cking know better. And the garlic, and holy water...all crap.

Wooden stakes all the way baby, all the way.

What surpirses me the most is not the fact that they're disproving what is obvious folklore but that someone is actually paying these people to do this...seriously give me grant money and I can disprove werewolves, goblins, and fairies if you'd like.

On a more serious note, the whole thing this argument is missing is the fact that vampires are considered magickal(yes the k is there on purpose) creatures. Ergo these beings would not need to constantly have feeding frenzies to sustain their nature. They would simply need enough to satiate themselves and would expend their blood pool as need (burning off energy that is not supported by magickal means).

Oh yeah and there are also several categories of vampires. So you may have 'disproven' sanguinarian vampires but you still haven't diproved psychic ones.

Has it occurred to anyone that this might just be made up? I know that on the internet, everything is true, but I don't think that many of the academic papers referred to in there are real.

But I do love this article, genuine or fake:
Snower argues that the mortal world can manage its resources in a manner that keeps the undead population in check, while simultaneously promoting long-term economic growth
