On Friday nights I had to be in bed by 10 pm. My mother would tuck me in, turn off the light, and close the door. I would lie under the covers until I heard her settled back into the living room. Then I would slide out of bed, tiptoe to the door, and quietly turn the lock.

Interesting analysis. Really really made me think about whether Gene Roddenberry had an agenda about atheism. I'm not sure...But he wanted to make us think.

Star Trek does that. TOS and TNG especially. The stories made you think. That's the reason I was so drawn to them.

Interesting story, for the fandom. I grew up on TNG, and Q was one of my favorite villians... but I don't get the same conclusions the writer does. There were sometimes indications that there were things even greater than seemingly omnipotent Q — the other Q, for one. Q wasn't the end-all, be-all of omnipotence...
