As moronic as this whole thing is, a model is hired for her face and body, and if the face and body doesn't fit (or stops fitting) the vision, the model gets fired.

Just because people weigh twice as much as models, doesn't mean the modeling industry should be burned to the ground and rebuilt by average people.

These people that b***h about women looking too skinny or unrealistically slim, NEVER b***h about how all male models have six-pack abs and chiseled jawlines...and perfect asses... and pecs you want to take a bite out of... and..

Men can achieve six-packs and muscles without going to unhealthy lengths. No one is saying that models are picked for having pretty faces and that's wrong, but the unhealthy body type that is promoted is wrong.

Men with muscles aren't unhealthy, no matter which bit you'd like to chew on.

That picture looks gross. I know this topic has come up before. I know this because I remember posting a picture of Marilyn Monroe. She invented sexy with all her womanly curves! Rock on to the women with actual curves!

The problem occurs when a body state that is dangerous to the continuation of life is promoted as being the only acceptable form. The model fired for being "too fat" is in fact clinically underweight (body mass index of just 17!) and if she truly can't fit into the clothes, that doesn't mean that chunky housewives won't fit, that means that the majority of the population, including the "normal," won't fit either, and THAT is a problem.

For what it's worth, I had a body composition assay five years ago. I'm 5'9 and a normal weight, and my BONES weigh more than that model.

5' 10" and 120 and they say she is too fat? OMG!!! I am 5'4" and my ideal weight is 130. That is just ridiculous. and they wonder why girls have such low self esteem now a days. They need to start using REAL models. Women who are a healthy weight. Not these sickly think women who starve themselves and look like little more than skin and bones. Maybe if our "role models" were a little more realistic, more people would be encouraged to try to lose weight. I know used to look at some of these models I think whats the point? I will NEVER look like that. I am still losing weight tho. I am just getting to MY ideal body. I really think this is damaging to young girls tho. I really dont want my daughter thinking that in order to look good, her ribs need to stick out.
