Ever need the FAQ, hop over to my profile and TA-DA!

:D

Cheers!
How about just clicking the link on the front page?

There is a link of the front page? Neato! Is this part of your master plan?

Reduce the FAQ to a new, fit, and trimmed forum post, and then link it to the front page?

Bravo sir. I applaud you. Give yourself a few space savers on the front page, so it doesnt get crazy cluttered. In fact, my suggestion would be fill the first page with posts so that it can be completely dedicated to FAQ, and no one else can mess around with it.

Back to my FAQ hole. Hurray!

If you look to the right of your post, you will see a list of links...Plime FAQ is the first one. It's been there since the re-design.

Hi, I'm a new user here. I found plime when I helped a fellow writer friend of mine track her backlinks from one of her articles "Nine Legitimate Writing Sites that Pay". Well, since the link to her article appeared to be doing quite well, I assumed that links to sites with a similar vein would also be appreciated. However, links to 1) a site on writing scams and 2) site with a list of freelance writing sites have both been consigned to the deleted pile within minutes after I posted them. The link to the video of talking cats on Youtube I posted appears to be taking off though. I have read the FAQ and what I would like to know is if there is something that I'm missing that is not covered in the FAQ?

Have you read the FAQ here, as well as the one linked on the main page?

Hello, Luke. Welcome to Plime. You might be better off posting this comment in the Introduce Yourself Please thread. Make sure to read through all of the FAQ's and enjoy the site, eh!

@ Maven, yes I have gone through the faqs on both here and the main page. I tend to check these out when I first visit a site.

@ punthe, well that thread seems to be purely for introductions and for Plimates to interact with one another and this thread appears to be one for working on a FAQ and since I did have a question I couldn't find in the FAQ...

It would be helpful if the FAQ could be found under the "help" icon at the top of the webpage, indexed, with a search box.

I'd love to read all the tips and such, but time doesn't always allow. Right now there are so many pages to the FAQ thread it makes it nearly impossible to read.

OOPS! Just saw it to the right. Will see what I can find there, and come back to this comment if need be. Thanks.

question on submitting links?

Is it okay to post single youtube posts to the front page or should they be in the youtube forum thread?

I know some sites frown on the posting of single videos. Videos that are connected to an article or are part of a number of linked videos are considered okay.

I know Plime is a lot less stringent in their rules as far as what is okay to post, but with the thread being in place and fewer single youtube posts being made, I just want to make sure which is the correct place to post them so I don't mess up. :)

I have heard that you shouldn't post them to the front page and that it doesn't matter. Just wanted to get the community's answer.

Technically they should go in the forum although this rule has been bent in the past if it is considered a particularly awesome video. Then again what you may think is awesome may not be so awesome to others.

Stick with forum and you won't go wrong.

« luke :that I'm missing that is not covered in the FAQ?
Since no one has answered your question, I'll point a few things out that I don't think will ever be covered directly in the FAQs. Well the first thing is covered; you can't link to your own personal writing/site/blog/whatever. That's covered. Understandable newbie mistake, no harm done. The other thing is an unfortunate consequence of spammers and sploggers; that we are a bit hesitant with newer members' links as we aren't quite sure if it's to something the submitter owns or created (ie, a lot of people suspect "spam" until proven otherwise (proven otherwise by getting to know you)). Videos links are usually pretty safe as far as "oh, they're not gaining traffic; they're just posting a video."

Hope that doesn't scare you off. The longer you play here, the more we'll get to know you and the less skeptical we'll be.

Welcome to plime (again).

It's really left up to personal opinion. While many users seem to think that all videos or single pictures should be in the forums, I think there's a bit of a grey area. For instance, a single image linked followed by a story (linked or unlkinked) about the image is perfectly fine in my opinion; but just an image is probably better suited for the forums.

The same goes for videos, really. Unless it's a particularly long video, or a "several parter", or it's accompanied by a story of some sory; it's probably better suited for the forums.

I guess I should have mentioned it here, but I PMed Luke and explained to him pretty much what you said here... post a few "safe" links until people see that you are "for real" and then have at it. I also mentioned that one of his links looked like a spam site, even though it wasn't, and being new, his link probably wasn't given the benefit of the doubt. All is well with Luke :)

I agree. A single image/video linked to a story isn't a "single youtube post" and is fine on the front page.

A single video that is long - like 10+ minutes long probably should go on the front page.

The rest should be in the forums.
